At the recent BESA National Conference held in London, the SCA was asked to be part of the Fire Safety Panel and update delegates on the latest position of their IFC Competence Scheme and the 12 Working Groups set up after the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Joining SCA Technical Consultant Allan Hurdle on the panel were Niall Rowan, CEO of the Association of Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) and Barry Turner, Director of Policy for the Local Authority Building Control (LABC). Chaired by David Frise, CEO of BESA, the seminar was very well attended with standing room only, highlighting the extent of the interest in the subject.
Some excellent questions were posed by the audience and attendees commented on how the panel helped them better understand the need for fire and smoke control changes in the building industry.
